eQualit.ie is seeking an experienced developer for the decentralized web who is motivated by FOSS solutions for defending freedom of expression and association online. The short contract is to create a Chrome extension that will replicate the functionality of CENO Browser on desktop environments. CENO (short for Censorship.no!) is a tool designed to circumvent the most repressive forms of Internet censorship and provide content distribution continuity during network shutdowns. Built on Mozilla for Android, CENO Browser utilizes the Ouinet library (also built by the eQualitie team) to retrieve and then share web content peer-to-peer over BitTorrent’s DHT.
Your responsibilities would include: * Research and development of a prototype Chrome extension for Ouinet, the peer-to-peer library powering CENO Browser; * Technical feasibility analysis and project roadmapping for future stable release; * Documenting work toward long-term maintenance and reproducibility.

Working within a tight-knit team on OuiSync, Briar and [potentially] CENO Browser, your responsibilities would include identifying, prototyping and documenting methods for an iOS app to achieve the following goals: * Discover and connect to nearby peers (iOS and Android) without needing internet access (e.g. Bluetooth, local multicast); * Investigate use of mDNS and DNS-SD on iOS and its interoperability with Android; * Investigate options for the app to run in the background under various networking conditions; * Sharing application data as files with other iOS applications.

* GPU platform engineer * : Help us launch our global GPU SaaS, enable our customers to auto-correlate all their logs using visual graph AI pipelines, and overall build foundations for an amazing collaborative investigation platform. Strong candidates may qualify for US clearance (DC-based), have worked in cybersecurity or other investigation teams, enterprise/gov experience, and enjoy Python (pandas, jupyter), infrastructure-as-code, detection-as-code, MLOps/AIOps, graph, and may have even done their own GPU computing.
* Security data scientist *: We're beginning to embed with security teams at major organizations to bring their operations into the AI era alongside our partners like Nvidia. You'll split between innovating on security AI algorithms (large-scale GNNs, UMAP, ..), iterating on their deployment for large operational teams, and rolling the code back into our OSS & core platforms. Half the time will be with an anchor customer (Canberra; remote OK; NV1+ clearance sponsorable) and the other half will be split across other global initiatives & accounts.
* Security solutions engineer / security engineer *: Partnering with the above security data scientist, you'll be responsible not just for the AI component but making it practical end-to-end. You'll use tools like Graphistry's visual graph analytics & visual playbook environment and broader PyData ecosystem to make experiences easy for security analysts. This will require using your cybersecurity knowledge, communications with customer, and helping with the day-to-day of innovating on use cases, including concept design, deploying, iterating, and scaling and end-to-end GPU analytics platform. Return (https://return.energy) is hiring a software developer who will work on software that accelerates the transition to carbon-free energy. Our investment portfolio includes companies operating in the markets of large-scale solar parks, charging points for electric vehicles, industrial-scale batteries, CO2, sequestration, and green hydrogen production.
While our ventures employ over 100 people in total, Return’s technical team is still small. Our platform automates processes in sales, project management, procurement, construction, customer service, and energy production and trading. The first 50 venture employees are now using the platform and we are ready to scale up, which is why we are looking for an experienced Ruby developer to work alongside Return’s CTO and product owner.
You will be working on the areas that matter most to our ventures and that match your expertise and interest. Our tech stack is straightforward: Postgres, Ruby on Rails 7, Turbo, Stimulus, and Bootstrap. We tend to keep meetings to a minimum in order to provide at least five hours of uninterrupted coding time per day. We practice code reviews and apply automated and manual testing. The platform is deployed multiple times per week.
Return employs 15 people working from our offices in Amsterdam, Utrecht, and Madrid. We’re very much open to working remotely as a developer as long as you live in the EU.
