Blue Dot Change | SF Bay Area (Peninsula) | Onsite when you need to be in the lab; remote otherwise | https://www.bluedotchange.com
At Blue Dot Change () we are working on removing methane (CH4 -- one of the worst greenhouse gasses) directly from the atmosphere. Our goal is to remove over 100 Mt of CH4 annually by 2024, ultimately reducing climate rise by about a third. We are an early stage startup.
Senior Mechanical Engineer (Silicon Valley): responsible for dispenser design, construction of certain lab equipment for testing and qualifying it. Our ME team will grow to half a dozen over the next 18 months as we design not just the emitter, but also materials handling, interface with shipboard operations, resupply etc, so your responsibilities can develop in any of these areas depending on your skills and interests. But the development and qualification of emissions in the lab will be your initial focus.
You will be the initial ME on this project. We are looking for someone senior who has built industrial-scale hardware in the past. Our equipment will operate in a marine environment so experience with hostile environments would be a definite plus.
Because you'll be designing, building and testing hardware, you'll need to be in our lab. You will work with our chemists, who also need to be in the lab. But on days when you don't need to be in the lab, you are welcome to work from home or elsewhere. This job will likely require occasional travel to Oakland, Hawaii, Long Beach, and later to other countries.
We can't pay FAANG rates but we can pay a reasonable salary, and if your request is outside our planned budget we'll do another survey. We believe in being transparent; trying to rip employees off is not a good strategy for a good, long term relationship. We don't list a salary here because we don't know your experience & seniority, but we are happy to share our budget and other details with any serious candidate so you can see how we think and have the same info we have. I've been hiring people for over 30 years and have built effective teams whom I'm still in contact with. So it'll be pretty easy for you to check us out.
There are a couple of other jobs on our web site which are unlikely to be right for HN (Chemist/Chemical Engineer and Marketing Communications) but if you have friends who would be interested, let them or us know.
