The Economist is scaling its engineering team to the next level, growing from around 50 engineers in Birmingham, UK to around 75 engineers over the new few quarters.

ABOUT

FluidStack is working to democratise cloud compute and build the world’s largest independent datacenter network. By leveraging under-utilised GPU-servers from datacenters around the world, we are able to reduce the cost of cloud computing by 5x. We’ve raised £2.4M in VC funding from the original investors of Transferwise, Revolut and SpaceX.

We are looking for a core software engineer to work directly with the founders on new product development. You will have a huge amount of responsibility over the product and company’s future, and will be given the opportunity to hire out a team to support you. No single day will be the same and you’ll be able to develop our entire frontend and backend.

TECH

- Strong experience w/ Python, Flask, HTML/CSS/JS/Bootstrap and ML tools (Tensorflow, Pytorch, Jupyter...)

- Experience w/ Ansible and GPUs (Nvidia, AMD, drivers...)

- Ideally some experience w/ Computer Hardware, Linux (bash, kernel editing), Windows (OOBS, kernel editing), Proxmox or other virtualization platforms

- Active in the Cloud Gaming and/or Crypto-mining space

- Bonus - Networking (networking topology, DNS, VLANs, BGP, AMP, Routing)

INCENTIVES

- £30-50k GBP/year

- 0.1-0.5% equity

- Big bonus and pay rise when we 5x (should be achieved in 6-9 months)
