We're constantly looking for more qualified full-time on-site kernel engineers. For this particular role it's all C with a smattering of asm.
Linux was obsolete the day it was released almost 30 years ago and if the past 10-15 years of cloud have taught us anything the general purpose operating system is simply not a great fit for our needs anymore. Of course we continue to use it cause we didn't have better options. We're fixing that. In the process we are dealing with some serious security issues that have been left to rot over time.
We're working with very large companies deal with the never ending onslaught of technology and designing from the ground up a whole new reality of operating systems.
